“I’m really happy that I decided to purchase here. I love living downtown. I love Steamboat. I really enjoy my place, it’s a nice place to come home to every night. Every time I walk outside whether its looking at Howelsen Hill, looking up at the mountain, I never forget what a beautiful place I live in. You’ve got great views here, and you’re in the thick of things. I never take it for granted. I feel really lucky to live in Steamboat and in the Olympian. The best features of the Olympian are location, location, location. You’re right in the heart of everything. You name it, it’s right here, right where you need it. Right across the street is my favorite restaurant. I can walk down the street to get my favorite breakfast. The Core Trail is right here. Pretty much everything you’d ever want. If you like a vibrant, small, safe downtown, this is really a great place to be.

I’ve enjoyed the condo a lot. It’s kind of a mix between city living and country living. I’m used to living in cities in lofts, and this is about as close as I could come to that. I really like some of the amenities. The hardwood flooring, the high ceilings, the exposed duct work. Things like that early appealed to my sense of style, the type of architecture that I like. There’s always something going on here. Because everyone lives downtown, everyone needs to go downtown, everybody that you know when you live here is out and about. It’s just kind of one big family, very family friendly. It’s a unique place and you’re right in the heart of it when you live here.”

“We looked at lots of properties when we first visited Steamboat Springs. We looked at single family homes and other condos. When we found downtown, we really fell in love with downtown and the convenience of the condos. This condo is brand new. We knew that we could work with Paul Franklin on anything, and we’ve really enjoyed the property because of its location and convenience and ease. We love the fact that the Yampa river is right across the street, that the rodeo activities and all off the opportunities with Howelsen Hill are just a stroll away. For my wife and I, life downtown is just comfortable and easy. We love just to meander downtown and take in the shops. I like to fly fish, my three boys love to fly fish. We’re literally 20 yards, maybe, from the Yampa River, and we’re right above Steamboat Flyfisher so we’ve got excellent advice and technical skills at hand, as well as a gorgeous river that runs right by the property.

One of the things we really delighted in was showing the property off to our friends. As you come in to the main elevator, the hallways are so wide and inviting, and they’re professionally decorated. And because of the opportunities to get out on the deck in the summertime, the ease of entertaining is unbelievable. Steamboat entertained us for the weekend. We fell in love with Steamboat 15 years ago. We wanted to be in a place where it felt like there were people around, it felt like community, and we wouldn’t be stranded away from everything that was going on. The downtown area just feels comfortable, it’s inviting. There’s a community of folks here that are very very easy to know and befriend. We made the right choice.”

Paul Franklin
Olympian Developer

“Hello, my name is Paul Franklin, the developer of the Olympian, a residential building in downtown Steamboat Springs, CO. I’m often asked, as a developer, why I’ve chosen to build downtown. My response to that is simply that we spend a lot of time downtown. There’s a lot to do downtown. We moved out here to Steamboat, my wife and I, about 8 years ago. We have a daughter 14 and another daughter 17, and of course we all love to ski. But the longer we lived here the more we all realized that there are so many activities based out of downtown. We’re right across the street from the 5th Ave. bridge, which really is the gateway to all the sporting activities, family activities across at Emerald Mountain. The mountain biking, cross country skiing, horseback riding, ice skating rink, you name it it’s there.

We chose Vertical Arts as our architectural firm for several reasons. One, they’re a local firm, which is very important when you’re designing downtown with the snow and weather conditions that we have. Secondly, they’re a young, vibrant company that really understands mixing modern technology and design ideas with what we consider very traditional materials such as timber, stone and steel. A perfect example is the courtyard, an integral part of our development which adds sunlight to all our units and is also a quiet, tranquil area for our guests to hang out in and enjoy themselves.”
